Mar Roxas was appointed by the President Benigno Noynoy Aquino III as the new DILG secretary that fills the void because of Jessie Robredo's recent passing.
Mar Roxas said in an interview that he will continue what Jessie Robredo has started.
There are rumors before Mar Roxas was appointed that somebody who is a Liberal Party member would be the next one of the DILG secretary post. It is said that the DILG secretary post is important when it comes to elections because it handles and foresee local government units of the Philippines.
Mar Roxas used to be a DoTC and has moved from it to accept the DILG secretary post. The DOTC secretary post was given to Joseph Emilio "Jun" abaya, another Liberal party member.
